Color Throwdown #227~Love You!

Hello!  We have a beautiful new color combo for you this week at the Color Throwdown hosted by the fabulous Lynn Put!  I thought this combo would be perfect for a Valentine and this is what I came up with:

I used the fun Valentine Doodles set from Taylored Expressions along with the Banner Stacklets 1 Dies and the Lace Chain Border Die.  The dp is Doodlebug Designs Inc. Lovebirds.  Here is a close up:

I stamped the heart flowers twice, cut out the hearts and popped them up with foam squares.  I added some Stardust Stickles for some sparkle:)

We hope you'll play along with us this week!  Just link your project to the Color Throwdown Blog HERE, and while you're there, make sure you check out the rest of the amazing DT creations!

Taylored Expressions January Studio Challenge!

It's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge. This is a monthly opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum. Each month we have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.  This month's question is:

Helpin' out a newbie! It's so exciting when a friend discovers the joys of stamping. But do you remember how overwhelming it was to decide what to get when you were new to the craft?
You have a {hypothetical} friend who started stamping less than a year ago and she is loving it! She has some Christmas money burning a hole in her pocket, and she has seen your fabulous TE creations, so she is asking for your advice on what stamping supplies to purchase. So let's hear your sage advice!

This is such a good question!  I wish someone had given me advice when I first started stamping:)  Ok, say my friend has $75 and would like to know what I would recommend buying at the Taylored Expressions Store.  I would start off by suggesting a stamp set that has a lot of versatility like Bless Your Nest!

Bless Your Nest

This set is perfect for Birthdays, Thank Yous, New Baby, New Home, etc.!  I would also suggest some fun dies like the Banner Stacklets 1 Dies.

Banner Stacklets 1

These are so perfect for making different layouts and also for adding your sentiments. Very versatile and so popular right now!  She would definitely need a border die because a beautiful border adds so much interest to a card.  My current favorite is the Lace Chain Border Die.

Lace Chain Border

Finally I would recommend some patterned paper with colors that she loves like the Authentique Lively 6x6 paper pad.

Authentique - Lively 6x6 Bundle

I adore this dp!  When I sit down to make a card I usually start with 3 things.  The stamp set I want to use, some dp to draw my color inspiration from, and a fab sketch.  The Deconstructed Sketch by our very own Jen Shults is always my first stop when I'm looking for a good sketch:)

So that comes to about $70.00.  Throw in a new Copic, or another paper pad and you are at $75.00 and you get FREE SHIPPING~Woohoo!

Here are a couple of samples I made using the supplies listed above:

First I made a sweet card for a couple moving into a new home (hopefully that will be us this year!)  I used Bless Your Nest along with the Banner Stacklets 1 Dies, the Lace Chain Border Die, and the Authentique Lively dp!  The layout is the Deconstructed Sketch #74.  Here's a close up:

I put the sentiment on the inside.  I stamped it and then cut it out using the Banner Stacklets 1 Dies once again.  I just cut one end, and then the other:)

This next card was made for a friend of mine who is expecting twins!

It is her first pregnancy and they are so very excited:)  I'm just glad it's her and not me LOL!  The layout is the Deconstructed Sketch #77.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the Baker's Dozen suggestions are!  I can't wait to see either!  Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope your day is fabulous:)

I've Got A Gun...

and I'm not afraid to use it! LOL!  I just love that sentiment that comes with this darling Moka Wanda set from Taylored Expressions!  I wanted to share a gift card holder that I made for one of my crafty friends:)  I decorated the holder with some Authentique Lively dp (love these colors!) Moka Wanda, and a little tag that I cut with the new TE Designer Mini Tags:

The Enjoy sentiment comes from the TE Rose Bouquet stamp set.  The sentiment actually says Enjoy the moment, but I covered "the moment" with tape, inked up the sentiment, removed the tape, and then stamped Enjoy on my tag.  Here's a peek at the inside with that fun sentiment and beautiful Lace Chain Border.

The gift card holder template I used is no longer available, but I think Moka Wanda would look amazing on any gift card holder!

Well, we have lots of painting to do today.  We are going to put our house on the market on March 1st.  I'm just praying that it sells!  On another note, my team made it to the SUPERBOWL!!!  Go 49ers!!!  Woot Woot!  Have a great day:)

Color Throwdown #225~Jar of Hearts

Hello!  I am the hostess this week for the Color Throwdown, and I chose this beautiful table setting as the inspiration this week.  I just fell in LOVE with this color combo:)  As I said on the Color Throwdown Blog, there is nothing I like better than a rustic looking piece of furniture, and pink and orange is one of my all time favorite combos:)

I decided to ink up one of the new Taylored Expressions sets that I haven't had a chance to play with yet called Hugs & Kisses with coordinating die~LOVE IT!!!

Isn't that jar adorable, and it comes with the hearts that you can put inside, or some X's and O's.  So fun!  This set also comes with a coordinating die that I used to cut out the jar.  I added some twine and a darling heart lock that I cut out using the Taylored Expressions Key to My Heart Dies.  The hearts are super sparkly because I covered them with Stardust Stickles:)

The layout I used is this week's Deconstructed Sketch #84 which is a fabulous layout!  I can't wait to use it again.

We hope you'll play along with us this week.  Just link your projects to the Color Throwdown Blog and while you're there, make sure you check out the rest of the amazing DT creations.

Thank you so much for stopping by today:)  I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Taylored Expressions January Spotlights: Cupid's Arrows

Hello!  We have one more day of spotlights to share with you today using the new January products that are available NOW in the Taylored Expressions Store!

Today I am sharing a project I made using Cupid's Arrow!  I just love this sentiment and thought it would be perfect for a treat holder for my wonderful hubby:)  I made a pillow box, and decorated the top with some Heart Nestabilities, some dp and ribbon from the Love Letters Project Pantry Kit and this fun image and sentiment from the Cupid's Arrow stamp set.  Here is a close up:

I embossed the cream heart with the CB Seeing Spots embossing folder after I stamped the sentiment.  I popped up the image with foam squares.  I plan to fill this up with my husband's favorite candy~DOTS!  (I don't know why, but he loves them!)

Make sure you check out the rest of the Baker's Dozen Blogs for more inspiring projects using the new release stamps and dies!  Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Taylored Expressions January Spotlights: Oh What a Holiday and Bless Your Nest!

Hello!  Today I get to share a few projects that I made with two of the new stamp sets from Taylored Expressions called Oh What a Holiday and Bless Your Nest!  I'm sure you can guess which one is up first:)

I had a BLAST making all these fun notecards using the new 3x3 Tuck and Close Notecard Die and this super CUTE Oh What a Holiday stamp set!!!  Here is a close up of each card:

I also made a little box to fit them all in:)  I decorated the top with some Authentique Lively dp and one of the new Designer Mini Tags stamped with a sentiment from the Taylored Expressions set Happy Trails!  The ribbon is from the Love Letters Project Pantry Kit!

I thought this would be a nice gift to have on hand:)  Next up is the darling set Bless Your Nest along with the coordinating Bless Your Nest Dies!

I just love this gorgeous tree branch that comes with the set, and the two birdies are so sweet!  There are also several nests that you can use, but I chose to use the nest die, cut it in half, and layer the two halves on top of each other.  Perfect!

I nestled the little bird that I cut with the die inside and added one of the 5 beautiful sentiments that come with the set.  Isn't that font awesome!  Here's a close up:

The border was cut with the gorgeous Lace Chain Border Die and I added some pearls and stitching.  The layout is MFTWSC104.

Make sure you check out the rest of the Baker's Dozen Blogs for more spotlights today!  Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy your Wednesday!

Taylored Expressions January Release Day!!!

Today is the day!  All of the amazing new products are available NOW in the Taylored Expressions Store!!!  Don't worry, we still have a few days left of inspiring projects for you:)

Today is all about the new Dies, and boy are they fabulous!  I used the new Key to My Heart Dies on my cone shaped treat holder today.  I started with some dp from the awesome Love Letters Project Pantry Kit along with some ribbon from the kit.  I die cut my lock and key and hung them from the handle.  To finish it off I added a sentiment from the new Rose Bouquet stamp set~I just think the font is so pretty!

I had so much fun making this!  It's my first attempt at a cone shaped treat holder, and I will definitely be making more in the near future:)
