Mardi Gras King Cake!

Hello and happy hump day! This week's Fun-Frilled Challenge was to make a Mardi Gras card. You may be wondering what the heck my card has to do with Mardi Gras...well, one of the Mardi Gras traditions is the King Cake : ) These cakes are usually decorated with the traditional Mardi Gras colors which are purple, green, and gold. Inside you may find different "trinkets" most commonly a small plastic baby. Whoever finds the baby gets to be king or queen for the day! They also have to provide the next king cake.

I decided to use this fun cake image from Artful INKables. I colored it in with Prismacolor pencils and sponged So Saffron all around the image. The baby is from Joann's $1.00 bin. The dp is Basic Grey Fusion. I added a straight stitch around the perimeter and used my favorite Martha Stewart Border punch for the lacey borders. I hope you like my take on Mardi Gras! Please visit Fun-Frilled to see what the other DT members have come up with this week!
Here is my version without the baby : ) Just a fun birthday card made with Artful INKables stamps! Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Love the one with the baby! LOL! It reminded me of the Top Chef finale this week when they had to find a tiny gold baby charm in their cake :)
